These are garters used to hold up your nylon stockings, fishnet stockings, etc.
I think they could also be used to attach children's gloves or mittens to the inside part of the the sleeves.
I do know these are over 30 years old I purchased them for my wedding and never used them.
A very nice Listian helped me to better describe these as I had them listed as whatchamacallits...

I thought it was something like that and don't they hook to like a one piece slimming thing? I think they would work good to hold kitten gloves and mittens.

What you have are the garters or suspenders that attach to a garter belt. They attach to stockings on the other end and the whole setup is designed to hold up the stockings. Originally garter belts were designed to replace girdles and they did "hold you in" some too but I think they're mostly designed to be sexy lingerie pieces now. Good luck with your auction - and you might want to add garters to the title of your auction rather than just " Whatchamacallits" so you'll get more bids!
