The listing, HP Pavilion Entertainment PC has ended.

This is a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv2000. It has Windows XP and only 80gb storage. I ordered a new LCD display because it has black screen thinking that would fix it, but found out it is the motherboard connecter between it and the display. I also ordered a new battery and charger. This laptop was given to me , but I needed something more powerful. All it needs is a new motherboard. Display is
brand new. I included a shot of the receipt of cost for the display so everyone can see. Listia rules apply any negative comments will have you block.

Yes it works. I don't know if you can see in one of my pics the lights on the laptop are on. I didn't take one of the screen because you would not be able to see the Windows boot prompt it was to dark so I didn't bother.

The screen is to dark to work without an external monitor. When I took it to get it fix they actually order a second LCD because they thought they messed up, butvthe guy opened the whole laptop and found it was the motherboard connecter to the LCD and not the monitor so in sll I replace the entire diplay for nothing.

You have to read the description, it has black screen you won't be able to see the windows promt to. It will work if I had the extra monitor, but I don't any more so I can't show you, but everything works go to youtube type in black screen and you will understand better.

No warranty. This was given to me from a friend to help with me starting College this fall for graphic design, but it's not what I need it's not powerful enough. Just so you know a new motherboard cost only 59.99 on Amazon. I didn't get it only because the laptop can't handle my graphic design programs.

I have this laptop and it is a quality laptop. It would be a great laptop to upgrade and fix. How much ram does this computer have? I do not know a lot about computers but my friend does. Does this laptop have the capacity to the RAM increased?

Yes it can be upgraded. Like I said it was not powerful enough for me. I will be attending College this fall for Graphic Design. I need some heavy duty computing power.

Yes it does. Just needs a new motherboard only because the connector between the monitor and the board is bad so it gives you what they call a black screen.You can barely see the windows application. If you look at my photos you can see the lights are on.

the dv2000's have motherboard issues, it's a known issue. sometimes they will light up with the LEDs and not boot, unplugging the battery and power and leaving it and sometimes it will come back to life.

Tried that went to youtube for black screen issue tried everything before had you can see the windows boot up but it's so dark that you have to be right up against it to make anything out. It works I had it hooked up to another monitor so threat none it works.

it's not the connector it's the motherboard itself which is expensive for computers

hp was sued over the motherboards in these laptops so no goo to anyone the temps would get as hot 300f

Thanks for the info, but it's not the entire motherboard the only reason you have to replace this one isn't because the computer doesn't work it's because some how the connector the hooks to the monitor is acting up and you can't just replace the one piece you have to replace the entire board. I already had this looked at and if I thought it couldn't be fixed I wouldn't have placed it on Listia.
