These are handy if you have aquatics of some kind. Pretty self explanatory, they just float and work.I do not see any defects, no breaks or cracks in the glass. The thermometer top has some accumulated water scale or algae scale on it, but does not harm it or affect it.
In the photos I try to show the thermometer works by one shot at room temperature and then another when water and ice is introduced to a glass — it seems to be showing normal temperature readings.
