Stamp was made to commemorate 50 years of service to the Marine Corps Reserve. It was first sold in Washington, DC, on August 29, 1966.
It was designed by Ms. Stella Grafakos. It pictures a WWI marine, WWII flyer, a frogman and a 1960 era combat marine. It also pictures a 5th marine in colonial uniform in the back symbolizing the formation of the marines in 1775.
