The Green Scapular, also called The Badge of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is a Roman Catholic devotional scapular. The Green Scapular, considered a sacramental in the Church, was approved by Pope Pius IX in 1863 and again in 1870. It is called a scapular due to its appearance, but is not descended from the scapulars that form part of the habit worn by religious orders.[1]
Attributed to the scapular are miraculous physical healings and spiritual conversions conferred upon those for whom it is invoked. The Blessed Virgin Mary promised that if a blessed Green Scapular was merely present in a person's room (known or unknown to them), and the prayer "Immaculate Heart of Mary pray for us now and at the hour of our death" was said for or by that person at least daily and with confidence, then the Virgin Mary would obtain a "happy death" for them, or their conversion to the Church.
