From the booklet: "The White House 2001 ornament has been designed to recall the era of Andrew Johnson's White House. A period wallpaper pattern, chosen for the lid of this box, captures the intricacy of the silk-like paper chosen for a redecoration of the White House that began in the summer of 1866. Inside is a beautiful lace vellum, reminiscent of the yards of stylish neo-grec lace that was used throught the Johnson White House.
"As this 24kt. gold finished carriage ornament is unveiled, a nostalgic winter scene is revealed. An 1867 photograph of the south facade of the White House inspired this engraved style illustration. The ornament depicts President Johnson, his children and grandchildren, returning to the White House from an afternoon carriage ride, which was his favorite form of relaxation."
