Got these roses from Hong Kong this week. Have mine in the refrigerator getting ready to plan. Got a few extra to share with my Lista fans.

Symbolism

The rose was sacred to a number of goddesses (including Isis and Aphrodite), and is often used as a symbol of the Virgin Mary. In Rome a wild rose would be placed on the door of a room where secret or confidential matters were discussed. The phrase sub rosa, or "under the rose", means to keep a secret — derived from this ancient Roman practice.

As roses cant be black/black.

Proally dark purple, you are correct, there is no absolute black in roses. Bought from China, they sell them as black.

How hard is it to grow a rose from seed? I've never done so. I would love to have one of these though.

I love the roses-I used to have some green roses from my exs father-n-law-but these are alot prettier!!! I am bidding and fanning. I am also bidding on the other auction as well. :D
