The listing, 10K Gold Necklace with Blue Gem has ended.

This is a 10k gold necklace, with a VERY fine 10k gold chain. Both are stamped, the pendant having it's stamp on the back and the chain on the clasp. I tried to get a picture but if you've seen my other jewelery auctions I just can't seem to get a picture of the stamps. I'd estimate the chain to be about 14-16 inches in length. The stone is a light blue color, and upon an hour of research and straining my eyes through a magnifying glass, I believe the stone is either ceylon or blue topaz. It could also be a form of synthetic sapphire. I don't believe that's its a genuine sapphire because the inside of the gem is very straight and not a bit messy. (If you have any pointers on how to identify what it is please tell me so I can update this description!) I'm not sure what the stone is, so please be sure to take note of that. This was bought at an estate sale while on vacation in California, so I can't consult with the original owner. I also can't afford to have an expert look at it at the moment. Since I don't wear such fine jewelery (and if I did my son would destroy it) I thought I'd let my listia family take pleasure in owning this. It'd be a perfect gift for a loved one. Think Christmas! Try putting a small magnifying glass over the lens. Depending on your camera and the magnifier, it might work for the tiny marks.

Honestly, it looks like sapphire to me... If you have a magnifier of any kind, try looking at the stone to see if there are any imperfections on the cut of it or on the inside any muddy blue spots, or if your really good you can see very small black spots inside even gray almost like grains of sand, this will show if it's natural or synthetic. Just thought I'd butt in lol It's gorgeous BTW fanned you

I did look inside but there are no perfections at all, which led me to believe it's not a genuine sapphire. I'll try to look again in some better light but to be honest I really don't think it is.

Ok I'll try to add another piece to the puzzle Scooby tee hee First I know $'s are tight, but you do a lot of this work, you are going to drive yourself crazy! I did it too. Please invest in a loupe. Look on the computer. they are not that much. I'm sure they wouldn't use mine to clear the hope diamond LOL but...........I think I paid 10. Now they stone. An estate sale? they normally don't have today's latest fashions so I would bet that it is some kind of genuine stone. as to what kind your on your own with that. . But really taking a picture of it and then look thru a magnfyer, that takes a lot of time too. I know you are busy too. I can tell by istening to you. But you like it that way don't you?? tee hee ok, it is beautiful and before it is all said and done I may have to see I you'll send it to me!

there is what looks to be a C1 on the pendant setting an the clasp, but I can't be be sure that's the maker's stamp or what.
