Description

The listing, Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera w/ SD Card ** Image Stablizer ! GREAT for Listia ! has ended.

Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera with IMAGE STABILIZATION and Macro mode -- perfect for sharp, clear closeups for Listia auctions. 256K SD card INCLUDED so you can get up and running FAST!

What is optical image stabilization? OIS sensors in the camera detect the motion of your hand and an element in the lens is shifted to compensate for the shake. Makes for EXCELLENT and unexpectedly sharp photos of kids and pets!

YES it takes video, with sound--11 minutes with a 1GB card!
YES it takes beautiful clear detailed closeups, as well as gorgeous landscapes.
YES it is small and lightweight.
THIS is a GREAT camera for both Listia and everyday family use. Check my feedback and bid with confidence! Shipped FREE and fast!

Please see the MANY photos below that I have taken with this camera for Listia auctions. The BEST thing about this camera is that it uses only TWO AA batteries ... so you can have rechargeables ready, never have to wait for a built-in battery to recharge, and can always pick up a pair of batteries if you are on the road.

Thanks! I know it's not brand new like Listia's, but those cameras have built-in batteries that need to be charged (or you have to buy an expensive second battery to have a spare). I've always stuck to cameras that use AA batteries, and this one is nice because it only uses two of them!

You go girl ... this is definitely one of the better cameras I've seen on Listia, and I've been watching them while trying to decide whether to list this one. Lots of cheap "kid" type cameras that probably take very good everyday photos, but not many you can use for really good macro shots. Good luck, and thanks ... the bids really popped overnight ... kind of exciting for me!

Geez should have put my swarovski beads on here, you're right try selling your stuff on ebay or craigslist , first off its a pai, then half of it ends up goin for fees!!!*love that) and you cant really get diddly for them. This way you can get enough credits to get something you do want, without paying an arm, leg, and your firstborn for. I love it, its a great site!!!! Long Live Listia!!

My Swarovski beads have been doing so-so on here, so I'm going to hold off on listing any more for the time being. I think with spring/summer weather, plus the end of the school year, things just don't seem as busy on here lately.

About selling good stuff ... ain't it the truth! I have had some jewelry I've been sitting on FOREVER because I KNOW it's worth good money, but I started listing it last night ... check out the lapis and tiger/panther ring with the ruby mouths ...

lol not just your life, but most of people's lives. I'm rally surprised how crazy people here are that they give away the expensive items like that one I saw, the Bulova watch, car/truck, brand new computer, professional cams, gold, silver, geez!!! The goal is this website is to give away things that you don't need anymore to clean up your house, but now, I think, it's been changed to the goal of "Give away your most expensive stuff to earn more credits!" hehe... Sometimes I ask my hubby, don't you use your train collection anymore, how about your clothes or underwear? Can I give those to Listia??" haha.. he slapped my head! joke! he can't do that to me, or else he'll be a flying hubby out of the window! haha

Well, two things are going on here. Some of these nice things, although you'd pay a lot for them new, you really can't re-sell for much. I've tried to sell nice jewelry on craigslist, ebay, etsy and bonanzle and it's hard to get anyone to buy them. But as a free item, I can make a few hundred or a few thousand credits, and buy things I like ... better jewelry (that fits me), I won the Dell mini netbook, and lots of other things I wouldn't want to pay cash for.

It's really fascinating the value these things take on when they are free ... this is really a super idea for recycling things that most people paid decent money for, but would just leave sitting around in their house rather than give away for nothing--at least here you get credits that you can use to buy new stuff. And it's fun too.

No, I bought it used. It doesn't need an AC cord because it uses AA batteries. And I've never needed the USB cord because I use a card reader. At 3500 credits I'm including a brand new SD card reader.

Thanks for the confirmation! I agree, most small cameras are fine for photos that don't require extreme closeups, but when you need a camera to photograph on a macro setting you need to find one that has a good reputation for that.

i've been using my mom's camera... they keep talking about buying a camera for me, i'm actually the only one in the family who uses a camera (for artistic purposes as well as listia) but i dont have a nice camera... grrr, cell phones dont take the close up pictures of flowers when i'm out. i bet this will go out of my range, but i'll watch it anyway!

You can't use cell phones to take closeup or detailed photos. They work great on the fly if your kid is doing something cute, but for Listia you can see the results in thousands of sellers' blurry photos.

Cameras like this Lumix (and similar brands) cost around $200 new--they change the model numbers about every six months, but the prices stay pretty much the same. After my daughter's new $220 Canon A-series got stolen on her trip to Germany (she is living there for a year), I sent her mine (I had paid $220 for that one too, about a year earlier) and got online to start stocking up on some secondhand cameras. I kind of went nuts and bought too many, and this was one of them.

I mostly use my camera for Listia photos--you don't need a fancy camera, but generally you need one that was originally in the $200 range to get really sharp closeups (the cheaper ones usually just don't work for that). So, this is a great deal ... works great now and unless it gets dropped or something, will probably continue to work for quite a while!

I listed it for 8 days because I wanted it to end a day after Listia's cameras (which I don't like because those have the built-in batteries that need to be recharged). Although this camera isn't brand new, I think it is a much more practical camera. Try posting something that will bring in some decent credits and end it next Friday just before this camera ends, it will give you a shot at bidding ...

Good luck! I think the winner will really enjoy this camera. Please look at the review link above ... this site is FANTASTIC for previewing any camera you are considering, new or used. I love this site because you can usually find camera reviews for cameras that have not been sold new for a long time ... which are the BEST deal for photo folks. A camera like this Lumix would still retail for at least $150, but you can buy them secondhand for about $50 usually, and of course this one is FREE!

This camera should work beautifully for you. It has many scene modes for taking photos. Just be aware that if you are taking photos indoors with a flash, ANY camera will eat through its battery (built-in or not).

At an event like that, I would carry a few sets of brand-name AA batteries to ensure you can take photos all day. If your batteries die, just pop in another pair--that's the beauty of cameras that use AA batteries. Cameras with built-in batteries don't offer that convenience .. first you need to remember to charge it, and if you take a bunch of flash photos even the built-in ones will run out of juice pretty quickly, then your camera is dead until you can recharge it (usually takes a few hours).

With this camera and NO flash, normal AA batteries will allow you to take hundreds of photos, but with the flash you might only get 20 or 25 photos. Rechargeable batteries are great if you are sitting at your desk and taking Listia photos, but they generally don't last as long as store-bought non-rechargeable batteries--so for an important event like a graduation be SURE to have two or three pair of store-bought batteries on hand!

+1
Apr 9th, 2010 at 2:00:23 AM PDT by

Yes, it has a USB port but it is smaller than a micro-USB. I didn't photograph it but at the review link above you can see the ports USB + A/V out (one port for both). I bought this camera used, but when new it probably came with a cord.

This camera is probably three years old, and may predate the micro USB size. I never use those cords, I take the SD card out of the camera and put it in a card reader (the new mini-computers all come with a built-in SD card reader, which is handy!)

Bidder alert ... at 3500 credits or more I will INCLUDE a BRAND NEW still IN THE PACKAGE SD card reader! (I have spares of those too).

If you don't have enough credits to win this camera, you can bid on similar used cameras from Best Buy's outlet auctions at overstock.com auctions. Use the http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/panasonic/dmc_lz5-review/ to evaluate ANY camera before you bid ... or check amazon.com's reviews. Similar cameras to this generally sell in the neighborhood of $50.

At this auction site, Best Buy gives detailed information the condition and items included with the cameras (i.e. in the box with all software and cords, or not in the box camera only). So, be SURE to read that info if you decide to bid. Shipping costs are generally under $10 for a camera.

Thanks natahoa, you are so knowledgeable with these cameras. I found the macro on mine, but it says 'landscape and macro setting not available with Ultra wide Lens. So I would think I have a macro settting, I just have to figure out how to disable the wide lens I guess. If thats an option. I didn't see it in the menu. UGH! I am not good with these things!lol I just need a new camera, well--another. I will keep this for my SOn. Thanks again for the listing, and your replies!
Apr 14th, 2010 at 8:20:48 AM PDT by

You are not alone ... you have to spend a little time figuring these things out, but once you know what to do it gets easier. Today I tried taking photos with a Sony Cybershot camera I have, just to see if it would take the details (925 marks on silver, for example). Most of the photos came out crummy, but it CAN get those tiny detail photos ... I just have to figure out the correct settings, and this camera seems more complex than the Canon I normally use.

You probably need to go into your menu and see if it is set to some sort of wide lens, or do you actually HAVE a wide-angle lens on the camera? If you have the type of camera that you can change lenses, this could be the case (usually those are the dslrs, but I have a Canon that I can add a wide-angle lens on top of the normal lens). My guess is that it is just a setting ... nice feature to have on a camera though! You need a wide-angle lens to take, for example, photos of an interior room. You just need to figure out how to set up your camera for Listia photos.

Yeah, I think it's def. a setting issue. It def. has a built in wide angle, now that you mention it, I can take a pic of an entire room! That is the very problem I have with my Listia pics, I want the item in it, not everything around it!! I guess I just need to spend more time with it, and figure out how I can utilize the macro setting! The one I'm using is a Kodak easyshare v570, which definately wasn't cheap a few years ago when my husband bought it (blindly--knowing absolutely NOTHING about cameras!) It has 5.0 megapixels, but a dual optical 5x ultrawide lens. I thought I wanted more megapixels, but after reading the review of your listed camera, it doesn't really seem necessary. I did notice that yours has a 6x zoom, so thats a plus! I'm still gonna keep my eye on it!!
Apr 14th, 2010 at 9:37:24 AM PDT by
Original
Yup, you gotta get it off the wide-angle setting. If you're having trouble with the settings, see if you can find a review for that camera at the link I have in the listing for the review of this camera. Those reviews go through a ton of detail about how various types of settings work with each camera. Other reviews online might help too.
