Tisk tisk, shame on you all...this will bring out the watchers
Last one I have so good luck to all. Also I add surprises as the bids go up, little things, you won't know what until you get your mail. I have so much fun on here...LOL.
i do not like surprises. mystery items can be good and/or bad. i prefer to stick with the item listed unless i am completely informed of any additions .
an additional note on this topic: When a person excepts that a mysterious "goodness" will come to them should they perform a task well enough, that person also excepts that a mysterious "badness" can come to them should they perform a task poorly enough.
As for me. i prefer to know what i am getting my self involved in, because the gates (or doors or windows) of the mind swing both ways (in ad out or to and fro) ...
the cigarette lighter socket puts out 12v . the amperage is dictated by the fuse rating. assuming said fuse is rated at 10a, then 12v * 10a = 120w . this is enough power to charge most laptops. USB specifications up to v2.0 provide .5a maximum. more power demanding handheld devices require more then this. 5v * .5a = 4.5a. an htc tilt 2 charger i examined was rated at 1a. it plugged into a house ac wall socket and supplied a usb socket for charging the phone. upon further examination, the phone has an option to disable charging when plugged into a computer. i suspect this to be because of the lower power rating of USB ports.
what happens to the 120w from the car? a device such as what you have uses a voltage regulator or other components to convert the 12v into 5v. the rating of this internal hardware will not be equal to the rating of its power source (the vehicle in question)
the actual amperage rating is typically written on the device.
