EXERP FROM THE INTERNET, PLEASE USE THIS DESCRIPTION TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS, IF IT DOESN'T ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS YOU CAN GOOGLE "HOW TO GROW GROUND CHERRIES" AND FIND TONS OF ARTICLES:*****They are easy, easy, easy. Plant a small plant in a sunny spot. Give it plenty of room. In Wisconsin, fruits start to ripen in late July, and continue until frost. I suspect ground cherries will be like dill. You only need to plant it once. Next year volunteers will sprout all over the garden. Right now that sounds appealing to me. I will let you know if I change my mind next year.
Ripe ground cherries fall off the plant and land on the ground. Hence the name. The papery husk keeps it clean. Simply pick up the yellow ripe fruit. At first, we did this about every three days. Now we harvest every day.
First we made a simple garden salsa. Then added them to fruit salad. Now we eat them out of the bowl. You can also make ham from them and I heard you can make an excellant pie!"
You will receive over 15 ground cherries. Just mash, dry, and get the tiny seeds out. (some of them you'll receive may already be mostly dried. Dry the seeds thoroughly, store in cool dry place until spring. Plant in early spring when danger of frost is past or plant inside in pots and move outside later. Mine had ripe fruit by July even with our drought, we're in zone 6/7. The lady above was in Wisconsin and she had very good luck with them!
