Offered is an early vintage button tab use of the happy smiley face in a political election campaign. It promoted the re-election of Gertrude Walton Donahey (1908 - 2004) for State Treasurer of Ohio. She served as the first woman elected to statewide office in Ohio from 1971 until 1983.Interestingly her husband, John, served as Lieutenant Governor and her father-in-law, Victor, as Governor and US Senator from Ohio.
