Wild blue iris plants will tolerate both full sunlight and partial sunlight. Plant seeds 1 inch apart and thin seedlings when they are a few inches tall, leaving at least 6 inches between the plants. Wild iris seeds can be started in flats of peat moss in the fall and transplanted into the garden in the spring, or they can be started directly in the soil outdoors.
