The listing, Antique Victorian Revival Bracelet Faux Amethyst and Seed Pearls Ivy Motif has ended.
Here is a lovley bangle bracelet that was probably made as a Victorian Revival piece. It is a piece of costume jewelry that is NOT from the Victorian period, most likely from the 1940s or 1950s. The stone is pretty purple amethyst colored glass. There are faux seed pearls around the purple stone, and some nice black enamel scrollwork as well. The bangle part of the bracelet is a gold color--it is not marked, but it's either gold filled or brass. The bangled is decorated with ivy leaves and vines which was an important symbol during the Victorian era.
Ivy symbolized everlasting love, deep friendship or marriage. If pearls are added to jewelry with an ivy motif, as this bracelet has, then it becomes a mourning piece as the pearls symbolize tears. You would wear it as a remembrance of a dearly departed loved one.
The bracelet is in very good condition. The clasp and stones are secure. There are a few small spots where the finish has come off and a small area of green, probably tarnish (see last photo).
