Questions & Comments
OOh I have been trying to root these with no luck. I wonder where the seeds are. They close at night I think.
Yes, they do close at night.......I love these flowers but I don't plant any - here we have a native morning glory that is a whitish-pink flower and many consider it a weed plant because it decides where to come up all on it's own :) - If you can't get your seeds to root, I could try for you and send them back out to you as a live plant? Spring or fall would be a good time because they hopefully wouldn't get too hot in transport..................
That would be great as a live plant. Your weed sounds wonderful too. Yes Spring or Fall would be great! It is funny how weeds are decided as all a weed is is an unwanted plant in the dictionary I believe & dandelions in China they eat for salad. Rag weed & stuff are bad but I grew once thinking it was a beautiful purple flower & I am so allergic to rag weed. LOL I was so miserable & my allergist said cut all the rag weed down & told me it had a purple flower. LOL
Here we gather dandelion greens and use in salads and make wine out of....we have several yellow flowering plants here that we call golden rod of rag weed - really bad for people's allergies here :) It grows everywhere - along the roads, in fields and anywhere that grass isn't maintained...................I think the flowers are different and beautiful though :)
The greens had a nutty flavor to them - you want to pick them when they are young - I was too young to like the wine and now I don't know anyone that still makes it :(
Oh maybe I will try some when they first come up. Yep, probably no one does. I wanted to make a liquor out of green walnuts & wine--but hard to find the walnuts.
Have u ever tried oils. I wanted to make oil out of fresh rosemary as supposed to be good for your aches & I have 50 ft buhes, but library had nothing on it & googling is always too vague. :) Hot again in 90's. Hottest summer in history. :)
About 25 yrs ago I lived along Lake Erie in NY and my yard had walnut trees along the property line on 3 sides - both english and black...........the black were great to make stain from..............I haven't lived anywhere since that has them :(
I will look thru my herb books to check on the oil.................I'm sorry it is hot there again..........we're enjoying beautiful fall weather!
Ooh it sounds like a lovely place to live. I bet the stain was incredible. They used to have groves here, but houses took over.
Thank you for looking! :) I am sorry too. To me the sun hits more directly on you in Fall--like the mail box--u can not even touch--summer is not as direct sun. Fall weather is wonderful. Nice to walk. :)
reminder:There is a total eclipse of the moon on the night of September 27-28, 2015. It happens to be the closest supermoon of 2015. It’s the Northern Hemisphere’s Harvest Moon, or full moon nearest the September equinox. It’s the Southern Hemisphere’s first full moon of spring. This September full moon is also called a Blood Moon, because it presents the fourth and final eclipse of a lunar tetrad: four straight total eclipses of the moon, spaced at six lunar months (full moons) apart.
