if you don't know what poke weed is ask some of the older members of the family or google it ! if you like collard or mustard greens you're gonna love these
most folks call it poke salad but it is really called poke sallet
there are lots of video on youtube that cover everything from harvesting to cooking

Yes, Kelly, it is the same thing. Poke weed is poisonous if not cooked right.
I have heard of people making wine out of the berries, but unless you do a lot of research on it I wouldn't. I might make dye out of the berries though.

proper preparation is a must and you are right it is toxic , l have been eating poke since l was a toddler , yup l was one of those kids who liked greens lol well l'm 68 this year and it is still my favorite green if you can boil water you can eat poke

I absolutely LOVE poke and so did my Mother and Grandmother! It is my very favorite green to eat!!! It grows wild around here, but I'm not sure how to identify it in the wild. So, I figured that I would grow it myself next year and then I will be able to identify it correctly in the wild after that. I really hope I am the lucky winner here. Wish me luck!!! Can't fan right now. Listia has me blocked until I get more fans of my own. It's a crazy rule, though. How do you get fans if you can't fan anyone back? Go figure!
