The listing, ANCIENT ROMAN CONSTANTINE COIN 1800 YRS OLD!!!!!!!!!! has ended.
ANCIENT ROMAN CON 331-337 A.D. CONSTANTINOPLE COMMEMORATIVE COIN! SORRY FOR THE POOR QUALITY PHOTOS, BUT THIS COIN IS VERY GOOD SHAPE (especially for almost 2000 yrs. old!!) The Constantinople Commemorative coins have a portrait bust of the new city goddess Constantinopolis on the obverse, and a figure of winged Victory standing on the prow of a galley on the reverse. Constantine took the decision to build a new capital city in 324 A.D.. Such was his determination that remarkably, Constantinople was dedicated as the new capital of the Roman empire just six years later, coinciding with the climax of the celebrations for the silver jubilee of Constantine’s reign!
