the simplest test is to test it with a magnet hon, if it doesnt stick to the magnet its at least 92.5 percent silver. if it is plated it will stick to the magnet.

This is from the Psiroy Collection and was sold to me as Sterling Silver, not plated. I have no means of testing so I will have to take the makers word for it:)

The magnet test is not always accurate if it sticks then yes it's not sterling but I have gotten peices that a magnet does not stick to and it's still plated.
