Commonly known as the New England Aster, New England American-aster or Michaelmas Daisy, is a flowering herbaceous perennial plant in the Asteraceae family.
Symphyotrichum novae-angliae (L.) G.L. Neson is large and showy, growing to 3 - 6 or more ft. in height. Showy, bright, rose-purple flowers with orange-yellow centers bloom in profusion at the tips of the leafy branches August, September and October.
Moist soil. Part sun.
Bees and butterflies frequent this flower and is a Nectar source for the Monarch.
