small, very round citrus fruit also known as: aldonisis, calamunding, Chinese orange, calamondin orange, Panama orange, kalamundin, calamundi.

Scientific name: Citrofortunella microcarpa

Very easy to grow. The tree, which is often trained as a bonsai, blooms all year-round, thus filling the air with the aroma of citrus blossom. once they are in the ground, will flourish into a taller size plant. Mine are in the ground and are easily twelve feet tall and produce fruits all year long here in Central Florida.


Makes a REFRESHING DRINK that tastes much like lemonade: squeeze and strain the juice of several calamansi, add cold water, and sugar or honey to taste. It’s a superb source of VITAMIN C and has a light, yet unique flavor equivalent to freshly made lemonade with a tangerine essence.

The many uses of calamansi make this fruit a wonder fruit. Calamansi may be squeezed on iced tea, seafoods and meat, to enhance iron absorption. The most popular medicinal use of calamansi is when taken orally as a cough remedy. The fruit juice is slightly diluted and drunk warm. Aside from the food and medicinal uses of calamansi, the fruit juice is used to BLEACH ink stains from fabrics and serve as a body deodorant.
