Christmas Gift New "Reunion In Kentucky" By Wanda Luttrell. This is a new Hardback book with a paper laminated cover. It says ages 10 and up, but I bought it read and as an adult I loved it.
Sarah is doing great living in Williamsburg with her aunt and uncle. Her mom has a baby and both are barely surviving so Sarah asks Uncle Ethan to take her to Kentucky. Sarah is maybe 12 or 13 years old and has no idea what to do with her very sick mom and mom's sick baby But a slave named Malinda with prayer and a gift of healing treats them and they become well. Malinda gets mom to eat and the baby she makes formula and a bottle out of an animal intestine.
Sarah picked a terrible time to went to see her family who live in the wilds of Kentucky during the Revolutionary War. The Indians were always fighting, the frontier life was primitive and hard. This is a very interesting book if you want to read about Kentucky and how the people lived during the Revolutionary War. These Kentucky people were the first group to settle there with Daniel Boone living conditions were very primitive, knowledge limited and most of the time the men were off fighting the Indians leaving the women who seemed to be always pregnant to guard the settlement It is great historical fiction if you want to know about the conditions of the time. Williamsburg is all settled and civilized with stores and schools. Williamsburg in the 1770's is paradise compared to Kentucky. The 1770's in Kentucky and Williamsburg I think is an exciting time in America's History.
