The listing, Delores Toya Signed Pot- Jemez Pueblo Noted Artist has ended.
What a lovely vintage 80's pot this is! Delores is a highly regarded, listed New Mexico Jemez Pueblo Potter. The pot is all hand coiled and stone finished to such a high degree that you would never guess it wasn't a wheel thrown pot....She uses only naturally derived tints from nature and expressly uses the shades of Buff, Cream, Black, and Russet over Red or Tan Clay Slip. My photos have not come true to color and appear a bit lighter than as seen in person and more dull. I think its from using a flash drive.
This Pot does have some character to it in some light "rub" and one faint scratch. This does not affect its value. There is no noted damage or issues with the pot.
5" Tall
Eagle Dancer Gallery has a similar pot to this at 3" tall for a current sale price of $69.00 I did find a similar pot for sale at $145 so please bid, bid and bid!
I have not been successful at finding out much about her but her works are beautiful and she embraces the ancient practices over the new. The Toya family is highly regarded in the Jemez Pueblo of New Mexico as talented potters going back generations.
Will be carefully packaged! Does anyone know anything about the native figurine as shown in photos7 & 9? he is ceramic or stone? and found about a year ago at a thrift store. please let me know if you have any info...
