Depending on the size of the charms maybe five or so and yes it does stay shut pretty good ;)

I just try to fill it with some charms here at home and I got four in with a few little jewels ;). Hope this helps

I just looked up bracelet and it's adjustable. At its extreme longest it measures bout 9". For my wrist personally, I had it set at about 7". Hope this helps thank you for your question
