Looks familiar right? in 1976 Mattel was working on a prototype for the "Mach 5" from "Speed Racer". when the copyright holders caused the plans to fall through, Mattel reworked and altered the mold just a little to clear the copyright laws.This car is the original Debut series car designed by Larry Woods. it also has the original "Flying Colors" and if you look at the out-lining red on the hood you'll notice that it bears a remarkable resemblance to the "M" on the hood of the "Mach 5"!
