a Spruance-class destroyer, was the second U.S. Navy ship to be named USS Ingersoll; in this case, in honor of Admiral Royal E. Ingersoll (1883–1976),
Postmarked U.S. Navy and the postmark even has the name of the destroyer plus DD990!
Another nice old cover most likely from WWII with postmark: U.S. Navy with 6 cent old airmail stamp with airplane and notice the return address:
