The listing, 1969 Topps #620 DEAN CHANCE (Twins) High # RIP 2015 has ended.
It is perhaps a great tragedy that Dean's career was so short, because he was amazing for a period in the 1960s. Between 1962-1968, Chance won 110 games, finishing 3rd in Rookie of the Year voting in 1962 and winning a Cy Young Award with the Angels in 1964 when he won 20 games with a miniscule 1.65 ERA. Traded to Minnesota in 1967, he put up another 20 win season, but as a player who seemed worth no second chances, the Twins began to "send him out to pasture" after a 16-16 season in 1968, despite a 2.53 ERA. He was out of baseball by 1971, having complied 128 wins and a small 2.92 ERA in his short career. Dean passed away on October 11, 2015.
