This is considered a Kindle Fire. This was the first version of it. After this they created the Kindle Fire HD which is shaped differently and has HD capability.

An iPad charger will not work as that uses a lightning cable. This requires a micro USB cord. Most android tablets and cell phones use this type.

I have only used it with an Amazon account. Not sure if you have to have one or not. Although, I am leaning towards you do. This device shines when you are connected with an Amazon account because then you have access to all Kindle items and if you have a Prime account you have access to Amazon movies and music also.

Amazon Prime is an option that Amazon offers. It is $99 a year but includes unlimited free 2-day shipping on thousands of items. Included also is their movie service (similar to Netflix) and their music service. You also will have the chance to borrow one kindle e-book a month from them.

A regular Kindle is only for e-books. A Kindle Fire is a tablet. You can stream the web, download game apps, watch movies, read e-books, etc.
