This Hand Carved Sheeham Wooden Box from India is rare and ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! My father bought this one from India himself, but he died many years ago. I do not know how old this piece is, but I remember from when I was young. I am almost 60 now. I do not know if they are still made.

This is HMIALAYAN JUNGLE SHEEHAM WOOD very intricately carved. The photos show details from the top and then bottom. The carvings are LOTUS FLOWERS & VINES. Also known as ROSEWOOD, one of the most prized woods in the world. (For Love, Healing, Change, Spiritiuality, & To Block Unwanted Forces)

The fabric is soft like brushed flat felt or velvet. A gorgeous blue. Sewn to the wood itself.This box measures 10 1/4" long, 4 1/16" wide, and 1 7/16" deep. Lid slips on/off little brass handle both sides to grip to open.

AT THE PRESENT TIME THERE IS A BOX LIKE THIS AT AUCTION THAT IS HALF THE SIZE OF THIS ONE.

I am sorry, but on my photographs the "white" is just glare from the light.

Absolutely love this one! I have one that belonged to my mother, a little smaller than this one. I collect boxes, all sizes and kinds. I love those little pill boxes or handmade wood boxes like these. I have never seen one like this and it is a thing of beauty. Must be hard for you to put it up for auction but I admire you for sharing such a special piece with such a beautiful history. I am sure the winner will love it as much as you did. check out Anglo Indian sewing box. Something like that.. late 1800's i believe. the circle is called a motif and the white is actual ivory.very beautiful and could be worth thousands depending on age, and location.

It's beautiful and I would love to know the history on it . Pretty cool that it has so many uses. This one is definitely unique and I would imagine, very desirable on a collectible stand point. I found another one in with my other collection of boxes that is just a small square felt lined box. Thanks for putting this up so I was motivated to find it.
