If you want to get technical...they go THROUGH your ears. And 'fake' gauges are standard post size earrings that are made to look bigger, these are just double flares.

they are 14, i know how to size earrings. and my ears are 1/2 inch so when i look at a petty size 16 they're more less fake to me. and they are bigger on the outside of the earrings than the part that actually goes threw your ears so its like an illusion making the holes look bigger than what they really are so yes i qualify then as being "fake"...if you wanna get technical.

No need to get rude, you can get in trouble on here for listing things as the wrong thing. And standard size earrings are about a 22-24 gauge so you actually have to stretch the hole to make it bigger....so not everyone can wear them.
