It gets big.it dosent spread.you use it for teas.it is used as a calming herb.you can put it in anything or steep the leaves and make a tea .

20 to 30 leaves kinda bruise them,2and half cups sugar1 and half quarts water,4 lemons.1 quart ice cubes,boil 4 cups of the water place the leaves in water for about 10 minutes,dissolve the sugar in about 1 cup of the water.boil about 2 min,remove and add lemon juiceput ice cubes in pitcher,mix sugar mixture and lemon balm mixture,put in pitcher and top offwith one more cup of water.
