Mintage of coins in 1885 at the Philadelphia Mint was around 17.7 million coins.1885 was within the first 7 years in which the Morgan Silver Dollar was made. Between the 4 mints- about 28.4 million coins were made. The coin is made of 90% silver and 10% copper with reeded edges.
