Description

The listing, Calendula Pot Marigold Seeds 15 seeds has ended.

Up for grabs are some Calendula seeds. Also known as Pot Marigold or Common Marigold, this is a super easy plant to grow and reseeds itself every year. I did some research on this plant and found some really interesting stuff on it:

Calendula has a wide range of medicinal uses. It is a soothing tea for gastrointestinal problems, healing wash for skin wounds, easily infused into oil for a healing salve or balm. Great for baby diaper area.

Calendula also has the rare quality of keeping its color during soapmaking. Unlike most herbal additives, calendula will not turn brown or black in a bar of herbal soap. Add 1 tablespoon of petals to just enough oil to cover. After your soap reaches trace, stir in the oil and petal mixture throughout your soap batch. The bright orange petals will remain bright and offer even soothing properties to the finished soap.

As a beauty aid, a Calendula rinse made of unsweetened tea brings out the highlights in blonde and brunette hair. Also try running bath water over a mesh bag full of Calendula flowers for a refreshing and stimulating bath that is good for the skin.

As with any herb please use only if you are comfortable with it. It is recommended in most herbal books that pregnant women do not use this and other herbs.

Thanks for looking and as always free shipping and from a smoke free home!

I use dried calendula in all my salves but I didn't know about the soap!! I will have to try that in my next batch. Very nice. Fanned, bidding, and watching.

I've tried rose petals and they turn really icky, I know chamomile and calendula keep their color though. It must be something with the golden coloration or something!! lol Thanks, fan'd back and good luck if you bid!

I like the "warnings" that you put in your listing. Many don't, mainly because they grow the plant because it is pretty, but they don't really know much about it.
Calendula can be used externally on anyone, even pregnant women unless they are allergic to it. However, I don't know about using it internally. I deal with external products most of the time.

I've read up on a few herbs, but I didn't find but a few things on pregnant women, so I thought I'd rather be safe than sorry, because I do know that some herbs are a big no no when pregnant. The only I used was lavender and only in my bath. Thanks for the info!!
