I've always liked it, but now that the refrigerator is covered with the alphabet and numbers by my nephew, I figured this might not be a good magnet for him to see :)
I used to post Far Side cartoons of Hell by my cubicle when I worked at the U. Remember them? My supervisor would take them down, but I'd put them back up. I love those. Got any more? Legends Echo
Good for you on always putting them back up. Fight the power! :)
I remember those! I haven't seen them in years. My favorite one was with the clown that is inside a gun shop and his thought bubble says; "Laugh at me now will they..!"
Oh, SweetPea...I must say: there's a big difference between Freedom and License. Children should be sheltered from bad language and negative influences. I agree with that. If Censorship is applied correctly it can protect. Too many people confuse license for freedom and expose and offend people who didn't chose that. Recently, someone's guest in my apt. bldg. walked up to me and said, 'it's hot as a m.f.' that offended me and frighted me. It wasn't acceptable. And it was disrespectiful. If I'd had a gun, I'd have been justified in shooting him for the implied threat. Let's think about what we're putting out there. Everything's not okay.
I just got bothered because it should be an option. A lot of the games and sites I've gone too let you choose whether to filter or not. I don't need someone to decide for me :)
Sometimes I wonder why "hate" isn't considered a bad word. But maybe someday I'll get to be the person that decides!
Nothing wrong with ranting. I just feel that standards need to be set for the young. They need to learn what is and isn't appropriate. Cussing up a blue streak isn't appropriate, and everyone shouldn't have to be exposed to that. What you say in private is your business. What you inflict on others and their children is the world's business.
Recently, a young man who was visiting a tenant in my bldg. walked up to me and said, "It's hotter than a m...f..., isn't it?" I was so offended I wanted to shoot him. But I didnt' have a weapon and I was all alone there. That kind of disrespect was NOT alright. His freedom was my abuse. Know what I mean?
