Description

The listing, Indian Marbles - Cave Pearls - cave marbles has ended.

6 Cave Pearls, also known as Indian marbles and cave marbles. They are about the same size as regular marbles, or slightly larger.

These are neither man-made nor marbles. They are naturally occurring geological formations found in caves, geological (stone) pearls. Most often they are spherical but not perfectly round - there are tiny bumps on the surface and occasional zig-zag line.

They form around a dirt nucleus (same principle as oyster pearls) by accretion of calcite / limestone in areas where water inside the cave flows too quickly for the formation of stalagmites.

Third photo shows a regular marble and a dime for size comparison. These two are not included LOL. Last 4 photos show the cave's natural environment.

Shipping to Listia verified address only, the next (business) day.

NO GIN requests please and no Canadian shipping. I timed the end of auction so I can mail the set right away on my day off.

Hello Mary. I've had the cave pearls listed a few times in the past and everyone seems to be happy to see them. They are found in the caves with running water so you can't find them above ground while collecting rocks. I'll try to list more next month so everyone who is intrigued has a chance of getting them. Fanned you back!

Very nice Listing, I have several but not the same color, I have Two Pieces of Gravel that has a complete 360 * Circle in the Center in White, the one Stone has a Perfect Star going all the way through it and the Other has a Flower the Same, Anybody Know about These? I also have a 38 Pound Sphere and I do not believe it is Man Made.....

Aw, I'd love to see the photos of your collection! There are various geological processes that can form spherical rocks, but I've read there is a cave somewhere in Asia (Vietnam perhaps), that actually has enormous cave marbles, the size of beach balls. Hard to tell what yours are, without seeing those rocks with designs though.
