Description

The listing, NWT Menstrual Cup - Ladies, look forward to your period! has ended.

TMI alert for boys!

I discovered the menstrual cup about two years ago and love, love, love it.

Have you ever wondered how much waste is associated with the use of tampons and pads? Pictures 2, 3 and 4 show how much waste is produced in one month, one year, and ten years - the dump truck is an illustration of a lifetime of garbage. We're talking almost 200 lbs of garbage over a lifetime, and upwards of $2000 for tampons and pads.

The winner of this auction, however, will received one brand new menstrual cup (Keeper or Diva Cup brand, your choice, $40 value with shipping) that will last 10 years + (the FDA says they last 10 years but really they can last a lifetime).

It's ultra easy to use and only needs to be emptied twice a day (morning and night), and to sterilize just boil it after each menstrual cycle. So. Easy. No risk for Toxic Shock Syndrome as there is with tampons, no dryness or abrasion, no leaks (although I recommend using pads for a cycle or two or until you get the hang of it), nothing to pack if you go on holidays, no waste (other than the packaging) - not a penny for you to spend on period stuff for AT LEAST TEN YEARS. Anyone can use this, and you can do anything you could with a tampon (swim, run, you name it!)

When this auction is done I will order a brand new Menstrual Cup online and have it sent to the winner. I am doing this because there are two sizes (pre- and post-childbirth). At the risk of sounding like a salesman, I am doing this (instead of listing giftcards which would get more credits) because I want to share this product with you. Even if you don't win this particular auction, I suggest you look into buying one for yourself. You will not regret it!

Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments; I will be happy to answer. Free shipping to the US and Canada.

wont you get a mess all over your hands when you take it out, and put it back it? when you pull it out, because of the seal it makes, does it hurt when you pull it out? you know like its pulling at your in sides or something?

It shouldn't be very messy on your hands but yes you will have to wash them after. If, for some reason your hands get very messy, just wipe them with a bit of toilet paper so you can pull up your pants and stuff, and then wash your hands.
I hear you about the seal, the idea of it used to really gross me out. What I do is break the seal before pulling out the cup by pushing on one side of it. You will hear the seal break and then you can pull it out. However many women do not do this and do not have any problems.

Lol nah it's not so bad. You rinse it off in the tap first so it's pretty much clean when you boil it. Boiling is just to kill any residual bacteria, not to get the gunk off. Keeper and Diva also sell a cup cleanser if you'd rather use that than boil it.

You may feel it a bit at first but you quickly get used to it. If it's in right, within a couple hours of your first time using it you should no longer feel it. Personally I have had some minor leaks because I didn't put it in right (I have since learned - when it doubt, re-insert) but never when I have put it in properly. I have boxed and swum with my cup with no issues. If you get one I would recommend using pads for your first few cycles while you get the hang of inserting it properly so it forms a seal, and also to help you gain confidence in the cup.

I have one of these in the "post child birth" size, and I hate it. I have tried time and time again to get it inserted properly, and it is never comfortable. Even though I do have children, I think I may need the smaller one. C-section X 2, so everything is still where it should be down there, lol! Watching! :)

Oh yeah girl, you definitely need a regular size. All your bits are still the right shape, I can't imagine trying to fit a larger one up there if a baby hasn't paved the way first. Also, I highly recommend the "7" fold for insertion. If you google it I'm sure you'll find a pic :)

I don't know if you would be able to wear this... I guess it depends on why you can't wear tampons. A menstrual cup is wider at the mouth of the cup than a tampon, but it's not abrasive or drying. Worth a shot I suppose!

I don't think so. The cup is fairly big (golf ball sized, maybe) and can accommodate a fair amount of fluid. I've never had an overflow and I've definitely worn it for more than 12 hours on heavy days. If you're worried you could just empty it once during the day to check out the situation.

I was just reading some of the comments and I wanted to address the "heavy flow" question... Many women discover their flows to lesson once they get away from the chemical filled pads & tampons! And as a woman with an "extremely heavy flow" even with a cup & cloth pads, I have never once had an overflow issue. You simply empty it when you use the bathroom, if you can't reach the tub/sink to rinse it, just wipe it off with some TP and put it back... Then you never need to worry about overflow!

The cup is made of a flexible latex-like material (some are latex-free) that creates a seal in your vaginal canal. No leaks! :)

I'm sorry, I don't know if you can. I think you probably could because as far as I know the IUD is not in the vaginal canal. The cup sits very low, not even at the cervix, so I don't why an IUD would prevent your using a cup.

Wow this sounds totally awesome>>i know bids will go way out of my credit range<cause i dnt have many credits lol>>but also i have never heard of this product..thanks for listing a website where we can purchase the item>>you rock!!! i do have one question tho.i have had 3kids natural and last one c-section.i have always had a med to light flow peroid..and have always wore a size small to med tampon..dr.made me get off tampons around 10yrs ago.cause it would make my papsmears abnormal.and they thought i was at risk for toxic shock sydrome..and i don't like using the pads.so this would be great for me..anyways what size do you think i should get?after having children i wore a size med tampon..and i have light to med flows always..could never wear the big or jumbo tampons they would kill me lol..thanks any input to this would be appreciated

The size of the cup doesn't have anything to do with the size of the tampon :) For tampons you use the one that absorbs the right amount of fluid for your flow that day. The cup on the other hand can accommodate a high flow but you have to make sure it's the right for your vaginal canal. If it's too small it will not create a seal and if it's too big you will feel it. If you've had natural childbirth you should get the large size because your vaginal canal is wider :)

Another Chicka who has never herd of such a thing! I greatly appreciate the thought to include us all in the invention you have found. Would love to try it too, but like a few others i can't wear tampons cause they feel funny and Paps hurt. I do use the Nuva ring and have had 2 children (small heads) with no problems (vaginal delivery). I think it would be worth a shot tho?!?!?!

Picture?type=square&access token=105469222550%7cd qfyki0ggnddypmnoq3ykmtsyq
I hesitate to comment as I am not a doctor and have only my personal experience to go on... I guess it depends on why tampons feel funny and why your paps hurt? I found tampons painful sometimes because if I my flow wasn't heavy enough pulling the tampon out "dry" would be quite painful... lots of abrasion. I don't have that anymore at all with the cup. I have had painful paps when the doc is not careful with the scraping but the speculum part has never been painful. If inserting things "up there" is painful this might not be the best choice for you as do you feel it when you insert it. It doesn't hurt (not me, anyway) but if you are particularly sensitive it might. You might want to google "Menstrual Cup Experiences" or something like that to see what other women say :) I think it would be worth a shot but I wouldn't want you to waste your credits if it doesn't work out.

Hehe, it's not scary once you try it out. I also find that I'm far less grossed out by my period as when I was using tampons and pads so that's a plus. There's just something nasty about stark white cotton all dark red and swollen. Ick.
