E3 is a Portable Headphone Amplifier designed to improve the sound quality and volume of any Digital Audio Player such as an iPod, MP3 Player, Mobile Phone, Laptop, or Notebook.

The E3 is simpler than the E5. Takes one AAA battery instead of rechargeable. No on/off switch (turns on when cord is plugged in), no bass boost. But it is smaller and it still does an amazing job of driving higher-end headphones from your personal audio players.

This is used and has some scuffs and scratches from being used in my car. I used it with my Slacker Portable player and some other MP3 players and it definitely helped with sound quality.
