Sometimes called "Wild tobacco" or "Indian Tobacco", (Nicotiana rustica), this tobacco is not the kind they put into commercial cigarettes, (Nicotiana tobacum). It is a close relative that grows to be only about 3 feet tall. A very attractive little plant. The most amazing feature of this plant is the nicotine content which according to my research can be up to 20 times that of regular smoking tobacco!! It can be used alone with caution as a very potent tobacco smoke in tiny amounts only.This Rustica tobacco makes an excellent additive to regular homegrown commercial tobacco as it increases the nicotine content and adds that extra oomph when it's missing from your homegrown blends. This plant also makes an ideal insecticide for your garden when ground up and soaked in water, due to it's very high nicotine content.
