Hi Hun, I fanned you, and I bid for this book at a higher bid than it showed, but everytime I enter a bid it tells me that I have been outbidded. I am new to this and don't understand why this is happenning.

Well Thank you! Fanned back (by the way BEAUTIFUL BABY!!!)
This is from the Listia support, (Hope this helps):
"Listia uses a proxy bidding system. In short, the system only bids as much as it needs to in order for you to be the top bidder, up to the limit you placed.
For example, say a user places a bid of 5 credits. If the auction starts at 0 credits, the top bid will now be 1 credit since that's all it takes for them to be the top bidder. If you now placed a bid for 3 credits, they would be the top bidder at 4 credits and you would be outbid automatically. If you placed another bid for 10 credits, you would be the top bidder at 6 credits since that's all it takes for you to be the top bidder. "

Oh Ok I get it now. Thanks so much for explaining this to me. I am disabled and when I found this site yesterday, I was thrilled to know that there was a way I could possibly get my 3 young grandsons some books for christmas. They are 5,4,and just turned 1. So good for me that they are too ypung to know that these books are second hand. I am so excited and can't wait to see if I can bid right. Thanks again for your help.

No problem and your welcome...there is also TONS of new, never used items on here as well. My son is 9 and he gets totally pumped when I get him books and games on here (and it doesn't matter to him if it's new or not).

I know what you mean, I joined many book clubs in the past and my 5year old grandson gets super excited when the books come in. I am almost as excited as him, bcuz we get some 1 on 1 time with each other. It's these memories I will thrive on and continue to strive for. I have a kindle, but I still would rather read the real deal, so they can see the pictures too. I am considering getting rid of the kindle, but I have only had it a few months and I have only read 1 book for myself. The rest have been childrens books that I read to the boys. LOL Who knows maybe I will auction it off on this site.

I have been thinking about getting a ebook but there is just something about the real deal that I hope never gets lost with technology. My son's school is going to go to the ebooks for all of their text books soon, each child will be issued one at the start of the school year and have to turn it back in on the last day...I do think that is kind of sad too. We love getting new books! :)

I agree and that's why I haven't enjoyed the kindle as much as others have. There is just somethng about turning those pages and bookmarking where you left off, and for the kids books, I love to read to them and let them see the pictures that go with that page. I personally don't think this will ever change no matter how much technology they come up with. Nice to see I'm not the only one that thinks this way.

Oh Lisa can you answer a question for me? What happens to the credits that you bid on something, if you don't win the auction? Do you keep them, or are they gone? Thanks again for your help

You get them back once you are either out bid on a current running auction or out bid at the end.
And No problem~ :)
