Here up for bids is a Series 641 Military Payment Certificate in the amount of 5 cents. I do not know anything about this banknote. Please enlarge photos to see the exact condition of this piece.
Military Payment Certificates (MPC) were issued from 1946 until 1973. They were printed in fifteen series and used in 22 different countries during that 27 year period. The denominations issued range from as little as five cents all the way up to twenty dollars. Military payment certificates were intended to be used by members of the United States military who were serving overseas. That means that U.S. MPCs can be found all over the world today.
Military payment certificates for the series 641 were the first notes used in Vietnam; that is also the only country in which these were used. They were originally issued on August 31st, 1965. They were redeemed on October 21st, 1968. In total, a little over 283 million in face value was printed for series 641 MPCs.
This is all of the information I could find on this banknote. Thank you for watching and good luck to all those bidding,
