These just dropped. It resembles an acorn & then releases these seed--too high to get pic but 2nd photo shows one that has it on--not sure what kind of OAK tree---green all year--leaves resemble holly leaves pointy & sharp. With the drought it still manages to grow where it is not supposed to--over roof--on electric cord--it is hardy-over 50 years old & comes over from neighbors yard. It is so pretty & gives great shade. I saved these as soon as they hit the ground as squirrels like to grab them. Not tested for germination came off tree Sep 6 2015 still green-some came off Sept 27 2015-please check in your state if able to grow & receive fresh seeds--10 fresh Tree seeds resemble acorn & an evergreen Oak tree --stays green 50 years old. i HAVE IN THE PAST just stuck a seed in a pot & it grew
