Yes, I'm aware that they are two different things. I was not aware that it said silver filled. I looked this up extensively, and i didn't find any of these badges that didn't say "Sterling Silver". I certainly was not trying to mislead anyone.
This medal is covered with 1/20 durable sterling silver which unlike silver plating WILL NOT wear off over time...Some standards consider this as being allowed to call it Sterling Silver even though it may say SIlver Filled...Its technically not misleading...Craftsmen of Jewelry commonly bond 1/20 Sterling Silver to base metals to produce items for people who may be allergic to silver or silver plate
Thanks for the, info I was not intending that you misleading anybody, I just wasn't sure of you were able to decipher what it said on the back, that's all, thank you, mike
Ahh, Thank you! I really could not make that out...my husband finally did, I found that the Cross that did say Sterling said it at the bottom, and it was really clear.
This is a weapons badge, When you qualify for a weapon like M16 you get a crossed rifle add on or when you qualify for hand grenade You get a hanger for that.It is not a medal like you would think. these are given during basic training to show you have achieved a passing grade in each field of weapon testing.
I assure you that this did not come from an army surplus store. My dad was a soldier from 1939 till 1945. He was in the unit "the big red one". Thank you for ruining this auction nastyned2 .
