I have a brass censor for my incense but I also have a small ceramic bowl. Do you put any sand, dirt, etc. in the bottom to set the cone on top of? Some sites say you need to put sand or is that only if you are using a charcoal disc?

no I don't use sand etc pic shows burn marks.I have never used the charcoal disc type.the ceramic bowl in pic is 4 yrs old I just put cone in lite small end

The red & white in pic is a ceramic bowl.sit cone in bowl light small end.I will take pics of mine to show.I set the bowl on phone book.you don't have to the bowl has tiny legs.I do just in case my cat gets nosey.
