They are used like regular pads. Some keep a pail next to the toilet. Wash daily in the machine. Hang to dry. For stubborn stains use hydrogen peroxide ( the cheap stuff in a brown bottle). Cloth pads in my opinion are so much more comfortable, and definitely better for the environment!

Just like disposables except no chemicals! You just rinse, wash and reuse :)
