Description

The listing, Ghost Fern Frond-Thousands of spores to grow your own! has ended.

These are are spectacular ferns! They have a wide variety of colors to them. The name is right for it...I have had people stand so close to it and they never saw it until I pointed it out, then they were amazed! Colors from burgundy, reds, purple, green and hints of blue and white. Mine grow in complete shade and seem happy but next year I will probably move them as an experiment to at least give it a couple hours of sun. They go dormant in zone 5a winter but I assume in warmer climate they would be a year long beautiful fern.
I'm offering one fern 5+inches long. The spores are on the underside of leaf. You will have thousands of spores to work with. Frond will be shipped in a folded paper, then an envelope to mail it. When you open it, the spores are so small that it is best to open right above where you are going to plant them.
Take good peat moss, wet it down, if you make a fist with it and water drops out, keep squeezing until it is just damp. Place in dish with about 1/2 inch to an inch of damp peat that will fit a plastic baggie, like a storage bag. Take your spores and lightly dust them over top of the peat but don't cover it. I was told to close the baggie that you place it in but I am sure it would mold so I suggest having it open to circulate air in the baggie. Place inside, out of bright light. Check every couple days or so to make sure the peat hasn't dried...you will want to keep it moist. Using a spray bottle works great! Just use a gentle mist.
