Description

The listing, All Natural Incense & Hookah Charcoal Wicca Pagan Druid has ended.

This charcoal is unlike any you will find in a store (on-line or otherwise). This charcoal is handcrafted by incense author and teacher Carl Neal. It contains only pure alder wood charcoal (that we make ourselves) and a natural gum binder. There are no chemicals or other additives. Because it is pure charcoal it burns at a lower temperature than many commercial products, prolonging the life of your incense or tobacco. This is a natural product made in the USA. The veins on the surface of the charcoal are colored with gold mica (this indicates that the charcoal was made from alder wood). These “leaves” of charcoal are especially crafted for ritual/religious use, but are also suitable for daily use.

Most of the commercial charcoal for incense and hookahs is imported from India and contains potassium nitrate (saltpeter) and other smelly ingredients. Potassium nitrate is what makes “self-lighting” charcoal spark and sputter. Some of that charcoal is produced using by-products of other industries (like plywood manufacturing). Our charcoal contains absolutely no potassium nitrate and is made specifically for heating incense or hookahs. Enjoy the difference that natural charcoal makes.

Since this doesn't have the salt peter in it does it still light easily? And could you tell me an estimate of about how long one will burn? Also I see in the pics it looks like you have them sitting on top of ashes? What advice could you give me as to the best material to place in the bottom for charcoal disks to sit on. I've read about ashes, sand, dirt, rice...I've seen different colored sand on ebay but I just cant see paying a lot of money just b/c the sand is colored. I'm a solitaire to doing things just to make it look pretty isn't a priority. I also bout a small hanging brass censor. Do I still need to put something for a cone to sit on top of in it? I don't want to ruin the sensor. I'm on fixed income so even though it was only $10 I still can't afford to waste it. Sorry bout all my questions, but I'm still learning I've just begun my journey down this religious path so I'm mainly reading lots of books and only meditating and gathering tools, herbs, incense, oils, etc. So when I think I'm ready to move to the next step i'll know all the info. I need to be successful but not out a fortune..lol

Our charcoal is all natural and is made in America using American-grown wood.

1. Natural charcoal is not as easy to light as "self-lighting" charcoal, but it is still easy. We recommend using a candle to light it since it takes a little more time. This video will show you how: www.youtube.com/watch?v=E97xSPI6Yh4
2. We recommend ash as the fill material for all incense censers. Sand, gravel, rice, and salt all tend to put incense out, while ash traps oxygen and helps the incense or charcoal burn completely.
3. I recommend putting ash in your new brass censer. Although the heat won't harm it, it might discolor the metal over time. Any type of fill material will help with that.

I love it when people ask questions, so never hesitate. I'm an incense nerd and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. You might also want to look over one of my books to get some good "insider" information on using incense in ritual. Check your local library to see if they have one or more of them.

Wow, lol. You don't ask for much do you? Just kidding. Let me forward these questions to my husband (Carl Neal). He's the expert, not me!!
