The listing, Gorgeous Aquamarine Gemstone Stud Earrings (Lab Created) .925 Silver Filled has ended.
These are my last listings on listia. Thanks to anyone who's bought from me.
This listing is for a gorgeous pair of aquamarine gemstone stud earrings. Lab created, which means it is the real deal, only less flaws in the stones. Take a look at my photos of the rings I have listed and look at the difference between stock pics and what they actually look like in person. Big difference. No time to take pics of all of them. :( The stone measures 7mm by 9mm. (25mm=1") I have a pendant to match, but I'm waiting on chains. I have rings to match as well I'm going to list, so look for them. I also have different sizes of rings and a different style which is a 10mm square. I will list one, remember how it looks in my photos! :) Silver filled is awesome!
What is silver filled?
With the ever increasing price of precious metals, most notably gold and silver, many artisans are turning to other metals to keep their jewelry affordable for everyone.
For comparison, think of the gold filled jewelry we have been buying for years. When solid gold is out of our price range, gold-filled is a more acceptable substitute.
You can think of silver-filled the same way. It is either a 5% or 10% layer of a sterling silver bonded to (filled with) a copper-alloy or brass-alloy center. Depending on the manufacturer, they may mark it as
95/5, 90/10, .925/10, .925/5, 1/10th or 1/20th. It is definitely not the same thing as silver plated, which a very thin layer of silver is laid on top of a copper-alloy core. Silver plate can wear down or nick while wearing it showing the copper underneath. This does not happen with silver filled metals. The bonded layer is thick enough to withstand small nicks and will never wear off. If your allergic to silver plate, but not sterling silver, you should be able to wear silver filled without an allergic reaction.
