I remember seeing these in the seventies but cannot remember for the life of me exactly what it is

Ah this is called a "permanent match" its an oil lighter that uses Naptha if im not mistaken, sort of like a zippo. I am very much considering bidding on this.

Ah well history, these type of lighters are still somewhat common even today, Ive used one similar to this when hiking at high altitudes because its one of the few types of lighters that will stay lit where the air is thin, Bic lighters wont work because the internal pressure becomes to low and there is not enough oxygen for ignition. These lighters are also amazing because even if they get wet they can still light because the fuel and wick is internal. Its a very cool piece, hope i can win it! :)

well if by deal you mean design, it looks a lot like the guy smoking a joint on the zig-zag packs. But if you mean price probably less than a dollar seeing how packs cigarettes were around 50 cents a pack back in the 70s at least around here
