This is an old school box that looks like a globe. I do believe it was once a purse, but the lucite plastic mother of pearl handle detaches very easily from the lid if too much pressure is applied. This is still very functional as a decorative piece and home container. The inside is a dark green felt like material with a gold (no not real gold) trim.
