Hello, and Thank You for taking a Peek at My Goodies, I'll start with YES, it is NEW in the Box, it has Never been USED at all, when My Daughter's Friend came over to Try to install this, He could NOT figure it all out, So the Box was Opened and the Paper work has been looked at and the Item's inside the Box have been Touched, It has "NEVER" been installed nor has it ever been Outside, The Remote is Missing because He forgot to put it back in the Box and when My Daughter Moved it never dawned on Her to look for the Remote. Now Your second Question about the "Remote", the answer is "NO" You do NOT need the Remote to operate the System as on the front of the Device itself has a Menu Button as well, but I'm sure You can Purchase a Remote from the Company. Hun, this System has WIFI, You can even Program it to Your Cell Phone and View Your Cameras. This has so much to it, You really would have to read what all this System can do and what it can be hooked up to. I did contact the Swann Corp. I've ordered a Remote for it, so if the Gin is used I will include the Remote, as soon as it arrives. This is on sale now for $498.00 but I didn't see the Metal on the Cameras, the Ones that are with this System are Metal and You can position each Camera in so many different angles it's amazing, especially with the Metal Housing that You can adjust to protect the Cameras from the elements. Yes as if they are wired you can use your cell to monitor from any location....

Oh Okay, I got Ya now, This System can go either way though, I like it as You can be out shopping and if You've synced Your Phone to the System, You can Monitor each Camera with Your Phone, I did Order the Remote Tonight, a Pretty penny for that little bugger, so if the GIN is used I'll add the New Remote along with The listing, if not then I guess by the time I get it, I'll list it in here some place.....Blessings
