While we are not so clear as to the extent of your question, the FitTrainer is a portable device that you can hang anywhere on your body while you connect the ear peace. Therefore there is no connection or issue whether you use it while jogging or being on a stationary or even a regular bike

I don't understand your answer.I ride a stationary bike 3 hours a day. If I wore the fitrainer would it read my heart rate while I 'm doing this?

We indicated to you that FitTrainer measures your heart rate no matter what exercise or activity you do. It focus on your heartbeats not the type of exercise you do. So, if you work on your stationary bike for 3 hours a day, it will do what it supposed to do, while measuring your heart rate, it will motivate you and offer suggestions (and or warnings)

Will it work with a 4th generation iPod?

We have no way of testing for compatibility on any specific Ipod. It does connect o Ipods for the purpose of streaming music. But the unit does not need an Ipod to function
